Bossing Vic says Wally Bayola must apologize for sex video scandal

Vic Sotto thinks his “Eat Bulaga” co-host Wally Bayola must make a public apology for his sex video scandal before he should be allowed to return to the show.

Vic, one of the acknowledged pillars of the 34-year-old daily noontime variety show, told Kris Aquino in an interview on the latter’s morning program “KrisTV” on Wednesday that he could ask management to bring back Bayola.

“For me personally OK lang naman, but he has to apologize. I think people will people understand. Alam ko naman mapagpatawad ang Pilipino,” he said.

Wally has taken a leave of absence from “Eat Bulaga” since early September after a sex video featuring himself and one of the show’s resident dancers, Yosh Rivera, leaked online.

One-half of a comic duo with fellow “Eat Bulaga” co-host Jose Manalo, Wally is married and has five children, the eldest of whom is 18.

In the same interview with Kris, Jose said his partner had, in fact, broken his hiatus recently when they appeared together at a fundraising event in Olongapo City. They had been booked for the event before the scandal broke out.

The duo received an award from the organizers, after which, Jose said, Wally addressed the crowd briefly, “Maraming salamat sa muli n’yong pagtanggap sa akin.”

Jose said he took over the microphone and apologized on Wally’s behalf, without directly referring to the sex video scandal.

In an interview with InterAksyon in late October, another “Eat Bulaga” co-host, Michael V., said the public should give Wally a second chance in the spirit of Christmas.

““Malapit na naman ang Pasko na panahon ng pagpapatawad at pagbibigayan. Sana naman makabalik si Wally,” he said.

‘Mwah Mwah Tsup Tsup’: Vic Sotto steals scene at Gilas match in support of son-in-law Marc Pingris

Popular comedian and television host Vic Sotto has thrown his full support the Philippine national men’s basketball team at the Mall of Asia Arena.

For the second time in the tournament, Sotto attended a match on Wednesday night to support Gilas Pilipinas, especially his son-in-law Marc Pingris. This time, he was with girlfriend and “Eat Bulaga” co-host Pauleen Luna.

Even as a member of the audience during the Philippines-Hong Kong match, ‘Bossing’ Vic was able to leave the crowd in stitches. When the ball went out of bounds directly to him, he grabbed it and squared up as if preparing to shoot a jumper at the basket, much to the delight of the crowd.

That moment added a bit of levity to help ease up the fans, who were tense for a good chunk of the match as Gilas had trouble putting away its lightweight opponent.

According to Pingris, it was his first time to see his father-in-law squaring up for a shot.

“Hindi ko pa nakita mag-basketball si Daddy,” he told InterAKTV in an exclusive interview.

For the San Mig Coffee forward, the presence of his in-laws has been a big source of inspiration. “Thankful talaga ako sa kanila kasi grabe yung suporta nila sa akin,” he said.

He noted how Sotto has been going out of his way despite his busy showbiz schedule to catch the games of the Philippine team.

“Grabe yung suporta niya sa akin pati na rin sa Gilas. Yung konting available time niya binibigay niya pa rito. So thank you Daddy, I love you.”

For Jose and Wally, humility is their duo’s key to success

There comes a point when you can’t hold back the sidekicks anymore.

“Eat Bulaga” mainstays Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola have been knocking on the doors of stardom for some time. They will continue to provide comic support to their “bossing”, Vic Sotto, but they have become popular enough to headline their own projects, be it a major concert, a TV show, or a movie.

One of their co-hosts on “Eat Bulaga”, Allan K, certainly thinks so. Such is his belief in the duo that he co-produced “D’Kilabots: Pogi Brothers (Weh?)”, a new movie starring Jose and Wally.

The other producers are Malou Choa-Fagar, Rams David, Joselito Oconer, Michael Tuviera, Eduardo Tuviera, Vic Sotto himself, and “Eat Bulaga” general manager Antonio P. Tuviera. ““D’Kilabots: Pogi Brothers (Weh?)” is Jose and Wally’s second starrer, after the 2008 horror comedy “Scaregivers”.

“Isang malaking tiwala ito sa tandem ng dalawa, na araw-araw naman nating nakikita at napapanood sa ‘Eat Bulaga’,” Allan K points out. “When they had their Araneta concert, all the more na pinatunayan nila na mahal nga sila ng buong bansa. At kahit saan sila makarating, marami na silang napapasaya.”.

Despite their success, Jose remains humble and grounded. He doesn’t even concern himself with how much his talent fee has increased, if at all.

“Hindi pa rin naman namin alam kung tumaas na. Nung mag-Araneta kami, ayos naman. Nagkaroon pa ng mga pelikula. Sa akin, kung ano ang dumating, dapat ko ng ipagpasalamat nang todo-todo,” Jose muses.

And the 46-year-old comedian will never forget that he owes it all to “Eat Bulaga”, the enduring daily noontime show that he joined in 1996.

“Sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ natagpuan na namin ang isang pamilya. At doon kaming lahat nag-click. After ng bahay namin, ‘EB’ na ang tambayan namin. Kaya kahit na masama ang pakiramdam ko o parang magkaka-sakit ako, hindi puwede dahil may magagalit,” Jose quips, pointing his lips at his manager and the show’s executive producer, Malou Choa-Fagar.

Wally thinks the secret to why he and Jose click as a tandem is their personal chemistry — they get along really well as friends.

“Pagdating sa mga away-away o tampuhan, wala sa amin ni Jose ‘yan. It never happened. Kasi ‘pag nasa trabaho kami, oo may tawanan, kulitan pero we share ideas. Walang sapawan kundi bigayan. Dahil ‘yan natutunan namin sa mga bossing namin o sa mga mas nakakataas na sa amin. Kaya, alam namin na marami pa kaming bigas na kakainin,” Wally explains.

Do they always have to be together? Are they really a package deal when it comes to endorsements, shows, guest appearances?

“Hindi naman. Kung si Jose lang ang kailangan, okay lang ‘yun. But more often than not, dahil nga sa tandem na kami sa ‘EB’, pareho kaming iniimbita sa mga shows or ‘pag may mga nagpo-produce ng shows, Wally-Jose na talaga,” Wally notes.

Jose believes success has not changed them at all. They may be more popular and have fatter bank accounts, but they make sure they keep their feet on the ground.

“Wala namang nagbabago sa amin. Panahon lang ang nagbabago. At saka kung gano’n ang gagawin namin, we know na marami ang magagalit sa amin. Kaya, anuman ang matutunan namin, ‘yun ang isinasabuhay namin,” he declares.

The duo are also generous when it comes to sharing their success with Paolo Ballesteros, with whom they form a triumvirate in their hugely popular “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment in “Eat Bulaga”. Paolo is also in the cast of “D’Kilabots: Pogi Brothers (Weh?)”.

“Assistant po ni Jose ang role ko in the movie. And yes, naka-girlash na get-up ako. Kung tingin nila nata-typecast ako now sa mga ganitong klase ng role, nai-enjoy ko naman siya. For as long as I make people happy, wala namang kaso,” Paolo says.

Paolo doesn’t mind at all that his constant cross-dressing roles have made people that he is really gay in real life.

“Hindi naman ako nagagalit. Nagalit ba ako? Ako rin ang maaapektuhan kung magagalit ako. Ang importante is to have that happy disposition all the time,” he says.

Directed by Soxy Topacio, “D’Kilabots: Pogi Brothers (Weh?)” also stars Solenn Heussaff, Pokwang, Tirso Cruz III, Michael de Mesa and Ms. Gina Pareno.

Solenn Heussaff on possibility of being linked to Vic Sotto

Hindi pa masyadong fluent yet, pero baka in the long time...

“Pero at least ngayon, naiintindihan ako ng lahat. May mga malalim na Tagalog words na itinuturo sina Ruby [Rodriguez] at Julia [Clarete], ganyan.

“So, masaya talaga ako sa Eat Bulaga!."

Pero nag-a-adjust pa rin daw si Solenn kasi nasa pangalawang linggo pa lang siya sa pagku-co-host para sa toprating and longest-running noontime show on Philippine television.

“Right now, kapag may prompter or something, puwede kong mabasa in Tagalog.

“Pero ‘pag adlib-adlib, medyo Taglish pa ako!" nangiting sabi niya.

“Pero talagang silang lahat sa Eat Bulaga!, mabait sa akin. Parang pamilya silang lahat.

“So, kapag may newcomer, hindi sila ‘yong, ‘Ay, sino ‘yan?’ ‘Yong gano’n? Super welcoming silang lahat."

“I was a bit nervous kasi alam ko puro Tagalog. ‘Tapos ‘yong show na ‘yan, more than three decades nang pinaka-watched na television show sa Philippines.

"Bata pa ako, may Eat Bulaga! na. So, I never thought that I will be in Eat Bulaga! ever!

“Pero ngayon na nando’n na ako, I’m super happy."

VIC SOTTO. Kapag may bagong female co-host na pumapasok sa Eat Bulaga!, hindi maiwasang intrigahin at i-link kay Bossing Vic Sotto.

“No one links me!" agad-agad na reaksiyon niya. “It’s just the press that makes something like that."

“A, no! That’s also some people are starting to talk about.

“Pero nag-usap kami ni Pauleen. And I said, ‘Ano ba ‘yan? Bakit may gano’n?’

“'Tapos, ‘Hindi ko alam baka para sa news lang,’" sagot daw ni Pauleen.

“So we know how showbiz is. There’s really a lot of tsismis-tsismis."

Paano nagri-react ang boyfriend niyang si sa mga pagkakataong may kung anu-anong intriga about her?

“Uhm, wala siyang paki. And I keep my private life private. So whatever happens in work, I take care of it."

NEW PROJECTS? Aside from Eat Bulaga!, ano pa ang mga bago niyang nakatakdang pagkaabalahan?

“May movie akong gagawin. In the talks na ang tungkol dito. Pero hindi pa ako puwedeng magsalita about it yet.

“Basta may dalawang movie ako this year. Isang love story, isang horror. Ako ang female lead," sabi niya.

Sino ang kanyang magiging leading man sa dalawang pelikulang inihahanda for her?

“Secret muna. Basta co-prod ito ng GMA Films at ng Regal.

“TV show? For now, ‘yong Fashbook [on GMA News TV] lang.

“At saka nga ‘yong Eat Bulaga! three times a week hanggang August, I think. ‘Tapos itong Party Pilipinas."

Kapag merong bago, go ako." -- Ruben Marasigan, PEP

Tagalog-speaking American boy becomes talk of Twittertown

His song and dance performances on the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga have been the talk of the Internet.
On Twitter, Gabby Abshire, “The Tagalog-speaking American Boy," became a hot topic after appearing on "Eat Bulaga" last Saturday.

Gabby had three performances:

“Teach me how to Dougie” by Cali Swag District: With host Allan K, Abshire rapped in Tagalog, “Turuan mo ko ni’yan, turo-turuan mo ko n’yan;”

“Mitulo Na,” a Visayan novelty song by Max Surban: Abshire sang this with "Eat Bulaga" host ‘Bossing’ Vic Sotto, and

“Laklak” originally by Filipino rock band Teeth: Abshire performed this with "Dabarkads" Aiza Seguerra, Allan K and Keempee De Leon.

In an interview with ’24-Oras’ segment Chika Minute’s Pia Guanio, Gabby said, “First time ko makakanta sa stage at masaya [ako], at si bossing [Sotto] pa ang kasama ko, masaya talaga po.”

When asked if he would join the showbiz scene, he replied, “Ayoko mag showbiz gusto ko lang sa Eat Bulaga. Gusto ko lang dito. Pero aalis po kami, yung visa ko po mamamatay” (about to expire).

In an interview with Guanio, Jaxx Abshire, Gabby's father, said, “He’s definitely Pinoy, he thinks Pinoy, eats Pinoy. He has not lived in the Philippines [though].”

Gabby’s Filipino mother, Jing Abshire, on the other hand, said she taught her son to be respectful and courteous.

“Tsaka yung po at opo talagang tinuro ko sa kanya,” said Jing.

Sick family member

Meanwhile, despite his cheerfulness, the 10-year-old is currently undergoing a stressful moment in his young life.

“My lolo po, he’s sick. He had a stroke,” said Gabby.

Gabby tweeted last week that he was selling their laptop to buy plane tickets to go to "Eat Bulaga" because all their savings have been spent on medication for his grandfather.

“Nagka-stroke po si lolo naubos po and pera ni tatay po sa gamot kaya po bebenta naming laptop for airline ticket po,” Gabby said in his tweet dated May 16, 2012.

Gabby explained that his grandparents were the ones who always watch and root for him when he entertains people in Eat Bulaga.

“Sila [ang] lagi nanunuod sa akin. Sila talaga ang pinaka unang ano [fans] ko. Sila ang masaya panuodin ako. Gusto ko ng ganoon,” he said. - VVP/HS, GMA News

Bulaga! Vic Sotto considering running in 2013 polls

Bulaga! After Senate majority leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, another member of the Sotto clan may jump over from the show business to the political arena.

On Sunday, Senate majority leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said his brother Marvic “Vic” Sotto had been “discussing possibilities” of joining politics in 2013.

Pinag-uusapan pa, kwentu-kwentuhan lang... discussing possibilities," Sen. Sotto said in an interview on dzBB radio.

He said Vic has yet to make a final decision on whether to run at all, and what post to pursue.

When asked if Vic is gunning for a national or local position, Sen. Sotto said, “pinag-uusapan din (that is also a subject of discussion).”

Although the Sotto brothers are prominent in the entertainment industry, they are grandnephews of former Sen. Filemon Sotto, and grandsons of Sen. Vicente Sotto.

Incumbent Sen. Tito Sotto had been in public service since 1988 when he won the vice mayoralty race in Quezon City, and first served as senator in 1992.

On the other hand, Vic has been very visible on television commercials, aside from his regular television shows that include the popular noontime show “Eat Bulaga!”

Vic is also known for the "Enteng Kabisote" movie franchise, which had been a killer at the box office. — LBG, GMA News

Have Vic and Pauleen finally gone public with their relationship?

MANILA, Philippines – In spite of being evasive about the real score between them, Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna are now said to be “open” with their controversial relationship.

Although the tabloid that carried this report did not cite proof or any other details, other tabloid reports noted that the two, together with several of their fellow “Dabarkads” on “Eat Bulaga,” flew to Macau earlier this week to celebrate Vic’s birthday.

The ace host-comedian turned 58 last April 28, the same day that Pauleen, 23, reportedly posted an intriguing “Happy birthday to you, love!” on her Facebook account.

When she was asked of her birthday wish for Vic, Pauleen reportedly said “good health,” “happiness,” and “peace of mind." Reports said she also doesn’t have a gift for her rumored beau.

It was late last year when rumors about Vic and Pauleen’s romance hit the headlines. The two, however, kept silent on the matter. And even when the latter was cornered by the press in a huddle last month, Pauleen only intimated that her heart is in a “happy place.”

She likewise maintained that “even before all the tsismis and when I was starting in [‘Eat!] Bulaga,’ we had a good relationship and it’s good.”

Their rumored relationship was met with alleged disapproval from Vic’s children, including actor Oyo Sotto. To this, Pauleen simply said, “I respect everybody's opinion.”

“For me, as long as I know that I’m not doing anything wrong, as long as I’m not stepping on anybody’s toes and long as I know that I am not hurting anybody intentionally, I’m good,” she added.

Nina Jose bares romance with businessman

Enough of those rumors linking her to Vic Sotto.

"Yes, I am in love!" Niña Jose confesses. But the lucky man is not "Bossing".

His name is Joseph "Josh" Calata. He is a 31-year-old businessman who has been dating the actress for three months.

A former model, he looks handsome enough to be an actor. And Niña can’t get enough of him.

"I've never been happier. Ever since I met Josh, things have been great. Parang wala akong problema," says the star of the TV5 primetime soap Valiente.

Josh is her third boyfriend. She wishes he will be the last.

"I just pray that we stay this way for a long time. I hope that he is the one," reveals the "Pinoy Big Brother" alumna, whose last relationship lasted five years.

"When I enter a relationship, pangmatagalan. I don’t play around. Serious ako sa ganyan. I’m in it for the long run."

That also means the 22-year-old actress is in no hurry to tie the knot anytime soon.

"Josh knows na mas importante sa akin ang showbiz career ko. I'm getting good projects now kaya ayokong mawala lahat ‘yan kung uunahin ko ang pag-aasawa."

Niña sees no problem in the 9-year gap between her and Josh.

"I never had a problem with age," she declares. "It's just a number, 'di ba? As long as we understand each other, and we have this fantastic connection, age will not matter."

She admits that she prefers her boyfriend to be older and wiser.

"Mature men for me are very sexy. I mean, sexy sila, intellectually," she muses.

Which brings us back to her co-star in the TV5 gag show “The Jose and Wally Show Starring Vic Sotto,” who had been linked to her before his reported romance with Pauleen Luna.

What were all those rumors about?

"Never naman kaming nag-date ni Bossing. Hindi umabot sa gano'n," she clarifies.

"He just asked me kung okey ba na one day ay maimbitahan niya ako for this Church service that he’s a part of. Then we can have dinner after daw.

"I said okay kasi I saw nothing wrong with his invitation. Pero hindi nga natuloy iyon because naging busy na ako with the taping of ‘Valiente’. Then nabalitaan ko na lang na he's being linked na to Pauleen."

Speaking of “Valiente,” Niña is very pleased with the positive feedback she has been getting for her role as Leona Braganza, the scheming sister of the protagonist played by Oyo Sotto.

She says her character is not an all-out villainess. Fans of the show will soon start to sympathize with Leona.

"This time maaawa naman sila sa akin. I’m not the total bad girl in the series. May ibang side si Leona na mapapanood nila."
