Daniel Matsunaga on Sen. Chiz Escudero’s feud with Heart Evangelista’s parents: ‘She doesn’t deserve this’

Daniel Matsunaga can totally relate.

The Brazilian-Japanese hunk told News5 on Thursday morning that he was well aware — thanks to his Twitter followers who had kept him updated — that Heart Evangelista’s parents, Reynaldo and Cecilia Ongpauco, had publicly voiced out their disapproval of her new boyfriend, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

Daniel admitted that the news was a not a big surprise to him. He had known how very protective Heart’s parents were when he was still dating the actress. He said he felt terrible for both Heart and Sen. Escudero.

“I’m sure he loves her. I feel bad that this is happening once more in Heart’s life because she doesn’t deserve this kind of things. And she’s in love and it’s her decision,” Daniel said.

He said he knew where Heart’s parents were coming from. He also knew they did not like him for their daughter, and it influenced Heart’s decision to break up with him.

“They’re very protective, I understand. They love Heart, and that’s family, and that’s their opinion. So ako I go with it,” he said.

However, Daniel believes that Heart, 28, is no longer a child and should be able to decide for herself whom to love.

“Heart is old enough to fix her life. She’s mature and intelligent. I’m sure she can handle it,” he said.

'Long distance' naging dahilan ng paghihiwalay ni Daniel Matsunaga at Heart Evangelista

Pagkatapos ng halos dalawang taon na pagsasama, naghiwalay na si Heart Evangelista at si Daniel Matsunaga.

Nakapanayam ng Showbiz Central (SC) noong Linggo (Abril 29, 2012) si Daniel, at ito ang kanyang naging pahayag ukol sa kanilang hiwalayan:

“Well, maybe, you know, maybe the distance was one of the big fact[or] in our lives. Because you know we were not expecting that,” wika ni Daniel.

“There were a lot of things around us. There were a lot of problems and because of such small things we, everybody fights, ‘di ba?

“In every relationship, people fight. And we had these small problems but nothing big. No reason at all to be huge, like, to break up,” dagdag pa niya.

Ngunit hindi naiwasang mahirapan ang dalawa sa distansiya nila at naging dahilan ito ng kanilang hiwalayan.

Nasa Pilipinas si Heart at nasa Brazil naman si Daniel para magbakasyon at para makasama ang pamilya.

Ayon pa kay Daniel, “We only had hard time communicating, because I went, I left for one month to Brazil and we had a hard time communicating through phone, Skype.”

“You know, the connection there is too long. The distance is too big,” aniya.

Dahil sa hirap ng komunikasyon, napag-usapan nila na makabubuti sa kanilang dalawa ang paghihiwalay.

“We spoke. We agreed. You know, that was the best for the relationship,” paliwanag ni Daniel.

Magkaibigan pa rin

Bagama't naghiwalay na ang dalawa, mananatili namang magkaibigan ang dating magkasintahan.

Nagkita muli ang dalawa noong Linggo sa set ng Party Pilipinas at hindi raw maiwasang magkaroon ng kaunting ilangan sa pagitan ng dalawa.

Ayon kay Daniel, manananatili naman silang magkaibigan dahil sa lubos na respeto nito kay Heart.

Aniya, “She’s a great person. I have nothing to say against Heart. I mean everybody knows I love Heart so much. And I’m sure we’re always gonna be friends, you know. It’s not like our relationship had to stop right there.”

Espesyal pa rin si Heart para kay Daniel at siniguro naman nito na mananatiling pareho ang pagkakaibigan ng dalawa at hindi magbabago ito kahit hiwalay na sila.

Mga personal na dahilan

Nilinaw din ni Daniel ang mga batikos kay Heart sa umano’y pagiging “nagger” nito.

“That’s not true for sure. I don’t know the reason why and for sure, she doesn’t know also. And it is really our personal thing,” sabi niya.

Hindi ito ang rason ng kanilang hiwalayan, paliwanag ni Daniel.

Noong itinanong naman si Daniel kung totoo bang may “temper” siya, ito ang kanyang naging sagot:

“Well, of course I’m not the happiest person all the time. You know you can see me of course; I’m [a] very very friendly guy.

“I don’t know where they got it. That I have temper. Maybe of course I have, like once in a month or something.

“I get stressed or something. We have a problem of course but I never throw that on anybody.”

Maliban dito, nilinaw rin niya na hindi ang mga magulang ni Heart ang naging dahilan ng kanilang hiwalayan.

Trabaho kasama si Heart

Noong itinanong ni Raymond Gutierrez sa SC kung nais pa ba niyang makatrabaho ang aktres pagkatapos ng hiwalayan, ito ang naging sagot ni Daniel:

“Oo naman. No problem, you know. I love to learn more with her. Why not?”

Hindi naman dito natatapos ang lahat para kay Daniel.

Ngayong nandito na siya muli sa Pilipinas, magpapatuloy siya sa pagsali sa mga workshop at sa pag-aaral niya ng Tagalog at magfo-focus siya sa kanyang sarili. –Mac Macapendeg/KG, GMA News

Daniel Matsunaga refuses to comment on reported split from Heart Evangelista

MANILA, Philippines - Brapanese model Daniel Matsunaga has begged off from making any comments regarding his rumored breakup from Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista. Jonas Gaffud of Mercator Modelling Agency, which handles Daniel’s career, texted “Showbiz Central,” April, 15 to say that the model-actor is not yet ready to comment on the matter.

“I was able to talk to Daniel yesterday. For now he just wants to rest and feel positive about himself,” host Jennylyn Mercado read Jonas’ text message on “SC.”

The couple seemingly confirmed their separation on Twitter. Last Thursday, April 12, Heart tweeted a series of messages:

“Today i woke up with a different mind set:) when the end comes a new chapter begins:) its hearts time again:)”.

“Being single is embracing growth.”

“Breakups don't always mean the other one was bad or we didn't love each other it could just be…we were too different.”

Daniel also seemed to have dropped hints that he and Heart had reached Splitsville, with this tweet: “Cant be happy at this moment guys...God bless u all...thanks for the words....i am sure u all know what is happening....:(”

Heart and Daniel admitted being a couple in the September 26, 2010 episode of “SC.”

When asked if she loves Daniel, Heart replied, “The feeling is mutual. Yes, puwede.”

Daniel unabashedly admitted then that they were in a relationship. “Yes po,” he replied when asked if Heart was already his girlfriend.

On Oct. 17, 2010, Heart professed her love for Daniel.

“Ill be honest. Siyempre in life you want everything to work out especially this one kasi for me ito siguro ‘yung pinaka-best. Parang kinikilig talaga ako every time,” she said.

She, however, remained guarded and even added, “Nothing is certain in life.”

“Ini-enjoy ko na lang ‘yung moment. If it doesn’t last, I mean, at least I got to experience something wonderful,” she said.

Daniel and Heart went on a three-week vacation in Brazil, which afforded the latter to meet the former’s family.

“It’s just really good. Kaming dalawa we’re very blessed to have each other,” Heart said about the trip, adding that she’d learned “to do a lot of things on my own.”

“They [Daniel’s family] really took care of me everyday. Talagang pinasaya nila ako,” she said.

In December 2010, Daniel expressed mused about the idea of a big wedding, just like his sister’s.

“I would like to have something that my sister just had,” he said. But, ever practical, he was still waiting more opportunities for “big earnings” and “savings.”

He hinted that the wedding might happen the following year.

“Baka sa susunod na taon pero I need to work first because I want to be the one to handle everything,” he said then.

Lately, though, Heart has been posting messages from TheseDamnQuote, an account that tweets “love, life [and] relationship quotes,” like:

“People say you don't know what you have until it's gone...truth is, you knew what you had, you just thought you'd never lose it.”

Another tweet, which just about summed up her relationship with Daniel, said, “Relationships are like broken glass. Sometimes it’s better to leave them broken than hurt yourself trying to put the pieces back together.”

“Stop looking for a partner. Focus on yourself and rebuilding your life. Eventually the right person will find you. #TLS”

Two of Heart’s friends managed to give comforting messages to the actress.

“She knows naman I love her and I’m always here for her,” Lovi Poe said.

Eventologist Tim Yap asks Heart to “pursue your happiness.”

“Kung ikasisiya ni Heart na maging single muna ngayon she should pursue that,” he said.
