MANILA, Philippines — Actor Rocco Nacino is excited to start working on his first title role in a film, a retelling of the folk epic “Biag ni Lam-Ang.”
As of this writing, the cast and crew of the film are already on location in Ilocos.
In an interview, Nacino said he is doing everything to make sure that he would be able to fulfill everything that is needed for him to give justice to the role, including having to prep his bottom.
Apparently, the role calls for the 25-year old to wear a g-string, allowing exposure to both his butt cheeks; and Nacino is insecure about how they look.
“Nahihiya ako sa butt ko. I mean, malaman siya. People tell me that it’s an asset—I don’t think it is. Siguro shy lang ako. Hindi ko kaya na ipakita sa mga tao,” said he in a recent interview with PEP.
Not that he has a choice.
“Siyempre, gusto kong irespeto ang culture ng mga Ilokano,” said he in the same PEP interview. “[Gusto ko] magawa kong tama 'yung culture na ginagawa ng mga Ilokano [at] maging masaya lang ‘yung mga Ilokano. Gusto ko lang maging maganda ‘yung film at ma-appreciate ng lahat ng tao.”
As such, Nacino is more than determined to make sure that his butt is ready for their scenes.
“Pipilitin ko na kayanin. Pero as much as possible, not too much [exposure],” he said.
“Papakinisin natin,” he added. "Hindi ako perpektong tao kaya… ewan ko, first time ko 'yan kung sakali.”
Still, Nacino is hopeful that focus on his butt won’t overshadow his vastly-improved acting abilities.
In April 29, Nacino will be honored by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation as the Most Promising Male Star of the Year.
Prior, he won the Best New Actor award from the Star Awards for Movies and the Golden Screen Awards for his performance in “Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa.”
