After loss to Marquez, Mommy Dionisia wants Manny Pacquiao to hang up his gloves
Manny Pacquiao’s mother is at peace with the result of the boxer’s latest fight, a knockdown at the hands of old nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez Sunday at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
But Dionisia Pacquiao, in a televised interview after the match, said she wants her son to retire from boxing already, pleading with promoter Bob Arum not to ask Manny to fight anymore.
“Hindi hayop ang anak ko, tao siya,” said the elder Pacquiao, who had been imploring the fighter to hang up his gloves for good. Dionisia said Pacquiao has a lot of options, since he has already started a career in politics, representing Sarangani province in Congress.
Dionisia also hinted at problems brought about by the boxer’s involvement with born-again Christian pastors.
“Magulo ang mga pastor dito sa bahay,” said Dionisia, a devout Roman Catholic.
In the past year, the younger Pacquiao has undergone intensive bible studies with born-again pastors, although he has repeatedly denied leaving the Catholic religion. He has credited his newfound faith for his renewed commitment to his family, leaving his vices in the past.

Mommy D receives early birthday gift from Manny Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines – Mommy Dionisia, boxing champ Manny Pacquiao’s mom, will turn 63 on May 15 and, already, she’s received an advanced birthday gift from her son—a luxury mini-van reportedly worth P3 million, no less.
The champion pugilist will not be able to attend his mom’s birthday celebration in General Santos City as he is training rigorously in preparation for his fight against Timothy Bradley.
But the obviously overjoyed Mommy D excitedly showed off Manny’s gift, her brand-new eight-seater Toyota Alphard luxury mini-van.
“Wala na akong masabi sa anak ko. Ito na ang advance niyang regalo sa birthday ko,” Mommy D said on “TV Patrol,” May 1.
As a yearly tradition, there will be a lavish birthday party for the PacMom, wherein she will have a special number.
“May ipakita ako sa lahat ng mga bisita ko,” she assured the televiewers. May intermission (number) ako talaga,” she boasted.
And apparently, even her birthday dress is something to look forward to. “Pati damit hindi nila alam,” she said of the surprise.
While inside the mini-van, Mommy D gave this message to her son: “Hello ‘nak. Goodluck sa laban mo. Galingan mo. Andito na ako, nagsuporta sa iyo. Pagdasalan ang importante. Magdasal tayo. ‘Wag mong iwanan ang pag-sign of the cross. Suntukin mo si ano,’yung kalaban mo [nang] kaliwa’t kanan.”
The report also noted that Mommy D is selling the mansion that Manny has given her because she she’s been having a hard time going up and down its high staircase. She’s currently staying in her old house also in GenSan.
