Bella Hadid scientifically found to be 'world's most beautiful woman'
MANILA, Philippines — American model Bella Hadid’s face has been found to have a near-perfect 94 percent match to the ancient Greeks’ Golden Ratio of Beauty, according to cosmetic surgeon Julian De Silva of the London-based Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery.
De Silva applied the “Beauty Phi” equation to faces of modern celebrities using digital facial mapping technology. Bella’s results beat other big names in Hollywood like Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Cara Delevingne.
"Bella Hadid was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection," De Silva told the media in a report published by English news site Newshub.
"She had the highest overall reading for her chin which, with a score of 99.7 percent, is only 0.3 percent away from being the perfect shape."
Apart from having good genes, what is Bella's secrets to being the world's most beautiful woman, according to science?
In a Vogue makeup tutorial, Bella has shared some practical tips on how to look like a million bucks and feel like you’re worth every cent.
Dark circles and a pale complexion are never a match for makeup, the most beautiful women showed in a video tutorial through Vogue. But since a busy, jet-lagged Bella with no proper rest for two months straight still trumps most of us on our best days – hydrated and with complete sleep – the results will still most likely vary.
“Imperfections are still beautiful, right?” the supermodel assures in the video.
Bella’s makeup routine involves concealer, a contour stick, a highlighter, a brow pencil, a lash primer, mascara, eyeshadow, lip gloss, and a hairbrush.
1. Make-over (makeup all over)
Bella liberally brushes lines of concealer and foundation on her t-zone, underneath her eyes, and pretty much everywhere. “See you just like wing it, you know...Just put it like everywhere,” she advises, before blending the product.
2. Defining beauty
To add further dimension to her well-proportioned face, Bella uses a little bronzer pen as a contour stick to draw two-inch diagonal lines on her cheeks. She blends the bronzer and dabs a little on her jawline. “Definition’s always good," she enthuses.
3. Highlight her’s
She then brushes highlighter all over and rubs a conservative amount under the eyes, exuding a subtle, desired “natural glow.”
4. Drawing the line
Bella’s eyebrows are definitely her own, so there’s no need to draw more.
But she does like to color them in using a brow pencil, bringing out a more pronounced shape.
5. Eye wonder
Bella also accentuates her eyelashes with lash primer and mascara.
She then applies some eyeshadow on top of her eyelids and on the corners of her eyes, opening them just enough to even out the color.
6. Lip service
The world’s most beautiful woman closes her beauty routine with just lip gloss, creating a contrast between the shade and tint of her eye area and the bright tint of her lips.
7. Not a hair out of place
After all the work is done on the face, you have to let your makeup set by brushing your hair properly and tying it back, Bella demonstrated with a bun.

Winged, waterproof, wicked
MANILA, Philippines - Winged, waterproof, wicked and wonderful. Undeniably, the eyeliner wickedly transforms not just one’s eyes but ultimately one’s face.
International celebrity blogger Nicole Warne, a.k.a. Gary Pepper Girl, keeps her makeup to a bare minimum but never without her statement thick, black liner that dramatically opens up and defines her Asian eyes.
Up-and-coming makeup artist to the stars Mayesa delos Santos, who’s worked on faces like Georgina Wilson, Iza Calzado, Maja Salvador, Julia Barretto, Kim Chiu and Sarah Lahbati, to name a few, has also worked with our very own digital darling, Kim Jones on her wedding to actor and singer Jericho Rosales. Kim certainly knows a thing or two about liners as her preferred sultry wingtip liner beautifully juxtaposes her sweet, wholesome look.
Mayesa shares, “When it comes to her (Kim) winged eyeliner look, she likes her liner to start near the middle of her eye then droop at the edge of her eye before extending upward, creating a winged-eyeliner effect.”
Here are Mayesa’s tips on how to get your eyeliner game down to perfection:
1. When buying eyeliner, test it first by applying at the back of your palm, leave for few seconds until it dries and try to wash it with soap to see if it won’t smudge or come off easily.
In selecting your desired color, it’s best if you buy an extremely black hue or any color with its maximum pigment.
2. Set your eyeliner with the same shade of eyeshadow to make it last longer.
3. “Tightlining” trick is the best to achieve a natural look. Instead of lining your eyes above your eyelashes, apply the liner in between your lashes.
4. Eyeliner application is easier when you’re looking down instead of having your eyes closed as you’ll have the tendency to squint.
5. Use brown eyeliner instead of black for a more natural, day look.

Holiday makeup for every budget
It’s the second week of December and the Christmas spirit is in full swing. Calendars are filled with parties and meetups, carols are playing everywhere, and eating big meals seems to be norm. In the beauty world, holidays usually translates to a bright red lip, smoky eyes, and lots of glitter—preferably worn one at a time. Has your makeup look gotten into the Christmas spirit yet? Here are four looks you can try as suggested by some of our well-loved cosmetic brands.
1. Jewel tones and high shine
Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman created The Evening Opulence collection for Fall/Winter 2013 which plays with rich purples, violets, and emeralds for the eyes and plums and fuchsias for the lips. Nails are decked out in graphite and matte sparkles. “I pictured a luxurious and polished woman, who looks to makeup to accessorize and enhance her look using bursts of color,” Westman said. “She is sensual, sexy and smart; modern, yet a little over-the-top. She makes each look her own, and her style is timeless.” Well, don’t we all want to be that woman?
Play up both your eyes and lips with this collection, as modeled by Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde. Try out the Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Embellished, Bejeweled, or Adorned. They can either amp up your existing lipsticks or tone it down, and the lacquer-like finish isn’t the annoying sort of gloss. It has lots of color and subtle shimmer, and stays for a decent amount of time before it needs a retouch. Another winner from this collection are the nail polishes in Divine, Elusive, Rich and Seductive. All say “opulent” and “holiday” and if you stock up on all four, that’s enough week-long manis to cover you for the whole month of December!
Perfect for: Dinner celebrations in neutrals, if you’re the low-key type, or in jewel toned sequins just like Revlon’s ambassadors Stone and Wilde. The holidays are the best excuse to pile on the shine, if that’s your style. Keep your hair sleek and simple so as not to go overboard. Emphasizing your eyes than your lips when lots of eating is involved will lessen the chances of makeup faux pas mid conversation.
2. Plums and pinks, and mauves
The Body Shop’s Winter Trend collection for 2013 recommends a smoky purple eye with a pink or mauve lip, for morenas. The 4-step Smoky Palette in Icy Plum carries different shades and finishes of violet, and the darkest shade, a matte plum, is a great break from the expected black smoky eye for the holidays. The brand’s new lipstick formulation, Color Crush Lipstick, is a shot of color with a creamy finish and Peachy Pink is the collection’s shade for those who prefer pale lips to a smoky eye. Feeling bolder and adventurous? Swipe on The Right Mauves for deep berry lips.
Nothing says happy like radiant skin, and The Body Shop’s latest Radiance range can enhance your complexion. Try Illuminate with Brush On in Sunlight or Shimmer Waves in Coral after foundation and before finishing or loose powder for that “lit from within” glow.
Perfect for: Brunch or lunch gatherings, where the natural sunlight will bounce of your extra radiant skin. Pull away your hair from your face if you truly want to highlight your skin, and don’t forget to sweep the extra on your decollete and shoulders, if they are exposed.
3. Old Hollywood glamor
Got the perfect little black dress and feeling a little classic? Bobbi Brown’s Old Hollywood collection pays tribute to the Golden Era of cinema and its American screen sirens. Perfectly lined cat eyes played up with shades of brown, gold, and champagne, and of course, a classic red lip, is Bobbi Brown’s Holiday 2014 look.
Check out the Old Hollywood eye palette which carries nine eyeshadows, from soft silver sparkle, subtle metallic gold, to rich chocolate and charcoal shimmers, these shades will define your eyes and create a great back drop for a precise winged eyeliner. Complete your glamor girl look with a bold red lipstick, also named “Old Hollywood” encased in a retro-gold case. And who says this look is just for an LBD or an LWD? Make it modern by donning red on red, like Katie Holmes’ on the ad!
Perfect for: Cocktails, where the low lighting, candles, and wine will really make you feel like a hobnobbing movie star, and you won’t have to worry about your red lips fading. Set your hair in Veronica Lake-esque waves, just like Holmes did, and opt for fine jewelry or smaller, classic accessories for a ladylike look.

Six easy makeup tips for pregnant and busy moms
I have approximately an hour and a half to write this article. I have just put my three-month-old daughter down for a nap and her next feeding is in less than two hours. Half of my lunch is sitting on the dining table, and maybe I’ll get to that after this story. I still have a couple of other household and work things to juggle afterwards, a dinner party, then my last feeding for the baby and putting her down for the night. Such is the life I have been thrust into since giving birth to my first child a few months ago. I realize that I’ve humbly joined the ranks of many time-conscious women who are really superheroes-in-disguise.
Gone are the days when I could plan out and think about my look for a particular day, from my clothes, to my accessories, to my shoes, to my hairstyle and makeup. Even in the middle of busy weeks closing a magazine or covering Fashion Week, I would have energy to put thought into most of my appearance and cheat the rest. These days, my criteria is basic: whatever works. I might have a few extra minutes to think about my look—if my baby decides to feed, burp, and take a nap efficiently. But more often than not, I probably won’t have the energy. Not to mention the other more important concerns I can use my brain cells for during those pockets of extra time.
If your daily life sounds similar to mine—or makes mine look like it’s a walk in the park—here are six realistic beauty tips to keep you looking polished and presentable. Because as much as we’d love to look as put-together as mom and fashion icon Victoria Beckham 24/7, we know not everyone has daily access to professional help like she does.
1. Prioritize good skincare.
We don’t always have time to do the full shebang of primer-foundation-concealer-loose powder to correct our skin, and we all know the cornerstone of beauty is pristine skin. Make sure to find a regimen that works for you, and be faithful in applying it every day and every night. That way you can easily get away with very minimal makeup, which will save you lots of time.
2. Expectant moms, learn how to contour and highlight.
Pregnant women will attest that even if they haven’t gained weight on their faces, they still think they have because they feel bloated. Makeup artist for Shu Uemura and mom Cathy Cantada-Dizon says she went through this, which led her to heavily contour her own cheeks. Get yourself a good contour kit or matte bronzer that’s two shades darker than your skintone. Contouring minimizes parts of our face and can create depth. So if you’re feeling extra chubby, try brushing bronzer from the middle of your ear down towards the corners of your mouth, but only until halfway of your cheeks. You can also brush bronzer on your temples, jawline, and create a noseline (from the inner tips of your eyebrows down to the inner portion of your nostrils), when you feel your nose starts looking like a tomato.
Complement contouring with a bit of highlighted cheekbones to really give your face more depth and ditch that feeling (or actuality) of a wider face.
3. Cut back on products, too.
“During the course of pregnancy our body temperature changes. Pregnant women feel so hot and sweaty most of the time, so if you’re used to wearing layers of makeup, lessen application so as not to feel irritated,” advises MAC Cosmetics makeup artist and mom of three, Pong Niu. If you can get away with just concealer and pressed powder, do so and save yourself the trouble of that melting feeling under makeup layers. Or switch to a light BB or CC cream in the meantime.
4. Don’t underestimate the power of mascara.
If you literally only have a minute or less, try curling your eyelashes and loading up on black mascara. This will wake up your eyes and make you look like you’re ready to face the day, even if you have yet to get caffeine in your body! If it’s all you have time for, curled eyelashes amplified with mascara already does a lot for your look.
5. Decide on your instantly polished makeup item.
It could be a bold lip, serious eyeliner, or flushed cheeks, this is that one item that makes you look presentable with very little effort. Cantada-Dizon says “[Mine] will always will be eyeliner and mascara. Lots of it. I look tired and haggard without it. Somehow it does brighten up my face and I feel more confident with eyeliner on since my eyes are very chinita.” It all depends on your facial features and your style. When you are pressed for time, this is your go-to look which you won’t have to think about.
Fuchsia, coral, or red lipstick is another easy item you can slick on to instantly look presentable. This is Niu’s pesonal makeup uniform. She recommends MAC lipsticks in Ablaze, Heroine, Silly and Embrace Me. “Nice skin and an outstanding lip color will do the magic,” she says.
6. Get a good concealer and champagne eyeliner.
By lining the inner rims or waterline of your lower lids, it extends the white parts of your eyes and makes you look more awake and alert. Couple that with a creamy, blendable concealer set with loose powder for your eyebags and you’ll hardly have traces of waking up during wee hours of the morning on your face.
Cantada-Dizon’s advices women is to “first know your face.” Know what to hide and what to play up in order to create your fail safe makeup look. And Niu emphasizes, “Do not neglect yourself. It doesn’t mean that if you have a baby, you have the license not to look fabulous anymore! Look for a home-service mani-pedi, spa, etc. Everything now is convenient and just a call away.”
