SPOILER ALERT: American Idol Top 4 announced and Jessica Sanchez is...

MANILA, Philippines—American Idol trimmed down the remaining contestants on Friday (Manila Time) and despite a lukewarm reception to one of her Top 5 performances, Jessica Sanchez made it through the elimination round and is now in the Top 4.

Sanchez escaped another elimination amid the aggressive campaigning of her fans, most vocally were the Filipino-American community in the US. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest said 60 million votes were cast following the Top 5 performance round.

Unfortunately, Skylar Laine, who has been an early favorite on the show, failed to get enough votes to make it to the Top 4 and was eliminated.

American music producer and resident Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine hinted that Sanchez's rendition of 'You Are So Beautiful' might have saved the teen Filipino-Mexican singer.

"Jessica singing You Are So Beautiful was just that -- beautiful," he said. "It was magnificent."

But he didn't like Sanchez's rendition of 'Proud Mary' and thought that he should have talked her out of performing it.

"I believe there were a lot of people at home last night who were uncomfortable," he said.

With Sanchez on the Top 4, she is just one position behind fellow Filipino-American Jasmine Trias, who in 2004 finished at Top 3.
