Radio station Magic 89.9 released an official statement Wednesday morning suspending radio jockeys Mo Twister (Mohan Gumatay in real life), Tin Gamboa, and Mia Bayuga for two weeks without pay for starting a Twitter hashtag insinuating that Charice Pempengco has a sex tape.
Early Wednesday morning, the Manila-based DJ's Gamboa and Bayuga started to use the #CharicePempengcoSexTape hashtag on Twitter.
While listeners understood the hashtag was a prank, those with no access to radio took the trending Twitter topic seriously. Almost immediately, the hashtag spread, drawing both positive and negative reactions from the listeners.
Hours after Mo Twister, Mia Bayuga, and Tin Gamboa made #CharicePempengcoSexTape the number one trending topic in the Philippines through their radio show, international singing sensation Charice Pempengco fought back by directly sending messages to Mo Twister through Twitter. — Reneé Fopalan/RSJ, GMA News
