MANILA, Philippines – Jaclyn Jose has refuted the allegation made by actor Albie Casiño’s mother Rina that the former is an “alcoholic.”
According to Jose, a multi-awarded actress who started her career as a bold star in the early ‘80s, she never would have lasted long in show business as she did if she had indulged in such behavior.
“I am not [an] alcoholic, [I’ve] been working in this business for a long time,” Jose said in an interview with “TV Patrol” on Tuesday. “Kung alcoholic ako, wala sana akong trabaho. Alam ng industry ang record ko, how professional I am.”
Jose also refuted the Casiño matriarch’s insinuation that she physically abused her daughter, Andi Eigenmann.
“Hindi ko kailanman binubugbog anak ko,” was Jose's firm statement.
Jose was reacting to Casiño’s charge in an earlier interview with “TV Patrol,” wherein the former said, pertaining to Eigenmann, “Sa akin ka tumatakbo no’n para sa mommy mo. Ito, alalahanin mo ‘yon—umiiyak ka sa akin about your mom, na alcoholic, na beating you up ‘pag nakakainom kaya nila-lock mo yung door mo.”
Eigenmann also denounced Casiño’s statement. “For the record, my mom never hurt me. Never," said she in an interview with PEP.
The ongoing word war between the two families erupted following a fracas last weekend in an upscale bar in Makati, wherein the younger Casiño was allegedly mauled by several individuals.
Casiño had insinuated that Eigenmann had a hand on the matter, saying that the actress knew the identities of the personalities involved in the attack.
“They were saying, ‘Ano, masarap ba ‘yung ganti? ‘Eto yung ganti ni Andi,’” said he in an earlier interview with “TV Patrol.”
Eigenmann denied the matter altogether, alleging instead that it was the younger Casiño who had physically abused her while they were in a relationship.
“He’s the one who threatened me and the one who wants to get me killed,” she claimed of her ex-boyfriend, whom she also alleged is the father of Ellie, her five-month old daughter.
