Marian Rivera excited about movie team-up with Coco Martin

At 27, Marian Rivera remains one of the most beautiful faces in showbiz. And if her “A List” classification in Yes Magazine’s list of 100 Most Beautiful Stars and her Top 5 ranking in FHM Philippines’ 100 Sexiest Women in the World this year are any indication, age has only made her look even better.

Her career is also showing no signs of slowing down. Although Marian said she’s passing up on doing a film for the Metro Manila Film Festival this year after being a fixture for several years, the Madrid-born and Cavite-raised actress dubbed as the Primetime Queen of Philippine TV is teaming up with equally sought-after actor Coco Martin in a film produced by Regal Films.

“The movie is called ‘Hanggang Ngayon’ and it’s a heavy drama to be directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes,” she told Interaksyon during the recent launch of Forever by Marian, her own signature fragrance from Tupperware Brands. “Coco and I both play lawyers who are rivals at the start but eventually fall in love with each other.”

Asked how she feels about working with the acclaimed actor formerly hailed as the Prince of Philippine Independent Films, Marian could not hide her excitement over the prospect.

“Honestly, na-curious ako sa kanya,” the GMA Network star admitted. “I mean para makaiyak on the spot ang isang lalaking katulad niya, iba yun!”

It’s the same kind of curiosity that she has for indie films which she admits she’s more than willing to do given the right project.

“Me and my manager are actually looking at several indie projects na puwede kong gawin. Wala namang problema basta swak lang yung character sa akin,” she said.

And yes, curiosity is also the same thing that attracted her to Tupperware Brands when company officials approached her and offered to develop her very own fragrance.

“Akala ko pang-kitchen lang sila,” she exclaimed laughing. It was only later when she realized that Tupperware has extended its product line to include cosmetics, fragrance, skin care, personal care, baby care, intimate apparel, apparel, accessories and other home products.

In fact, Tupperware brands have an impressive list of celebrity brand ambassadors that include Bea Alonzo, Maja Salvador, Marvin Agustin, Sam Milby, Dimples Romana and Aljur Abrenica.

“Mabango siya,” she describes the fragrance that bears her name. “I like that it’s both floral and fruity at the same time.”

Marian’s curiosities, however, does not extend to having her own social network where her own personal online presence is still sorely missed by fans and colleagues alike.

“Actually, nai-inggit ako sa ibang mga artista kasi nagagamit nila yung social media accounts nila to announce their films, their TV programs and public appearances,” she confessed. “But there’s another side to it din naman. For me, iwas gulo at iwas sakit ng ulo na lang yung wala akong Facebook at Twitter accounts.”

Her absence on Twitter in particular does not stop others from opening their own fake, often parody Marian Rivera accounts. One such netizen is Twitter user @superstarmarian who even got a nomination in the #Thought-Mover category in this year’s Globe Tatt Awards for her often hilarious tweets that not a few people often mistake as that of the actress.

“Nakakatawa siya,” said the actress about the mysterious @superstarmarian. “Hindi ko nababasa ang mga tweets niya pero I read about her in Rogue magazine and all I can say is basta alam lang niya ang limitations niya, okay lang sa ‘kin yun.”
