Belo’s Beseech: Put ‘App’ On Top

MANILA, Philippines—Fired up by the phenomenal reception to the Belofied app when it was released in the Mac App store two weeks ago, beauty doctor to the stars Vicki Belo calls on the public to make July 2, 2012, “Belofied” Day.

“Kung sabay-sabay tayo magdownload nung Belofied App on Monday, July 2, malamang pumasok ito sa Top 10 ng free iPhone Apps under the Medical Category worldwide, though ang wish talaga namin ay magnumber one ito,” Belo said at a press conference tendered July 29.

The doctor added that if her call bears fruit, it would be the first time for any app from the Philippines to top the iTunes list under the category.

The Belofied app is both educational and entertaining. Aside from listing the services of the Belo Medical Group, it gives users an idea about some “beauty” procedures they might want to avail such as botox treatment or liposuction. The app also has a “Belofy Me” feature that allows users to manipulate the images on their phones by using shrink, expand and mold buttons. Though results may not be as exact as when one goes under the knife, it could be pretty close to it.

During the conference, Belo, her daughter Cristalle Henares, and the app creator and rumored boyfriend, Al Galang, demonstrated to media how to use the “Belofy Me” feature of the app. They also proudly reported that the Belofied App cornered the number one spot of free iPhone app ranking under Medical Category in the Philippines upon release.

And though it has so far “only” landed on 59th place on the list of free iPhone Apps under the Medical Category worldwide, they noted that it’s the highest ranking app from the Philippines when the survey results came out.

Henares pointed out that a photo can be edited in detailed manner by using the “zoom” button and that a tilt of the iPhone or iPad in landscape mode gives a split-screen view of before and after shots. More, before and after photos can be generated using the app.

To download the Belofied app, type the word Belofied on the search bar in the Mac App Store. The app is compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPod Touch (4th generation), iPad 2 wi-fi, iPad 2 wi-fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad wi-fi +4G. Requires iOs 5 or later.

Henares, who is handling the Beauty Deo product of the group, said that they hope to make the word “Belofy” into a sort of “slang” verb synonymous to beautifying someone or something.
