MANILA, Philippines – BB Gandanghari remains evasive whenever the sex change issue is raised during his interviews.
At the recent Guillermo Mendoza Box-Office Awards night, the former actor-turned-model refused to dignify reports that he’d already undergone a sex change operation.
“As much as I wanna comment pero I don’t wanna comment kasi talagang it’s very personal to me, alam mo ‘yon. Yun lang. Sana iwan n’yo na sa akin ‘yon,” he said on “24 Oras,” April 30.
Although he’s happy to be back home after working as an androgynous model in the US for two years, BB is not completely happy because she knows that some people—his brother Robin Padilla, for one—still do not approve of his sexual preference or his orientation.
“As much it pains me to know na may mga taong malalapit sa ‘yo na may reservations about you, about sa pagkatao ko, but pinagpapasa-Diyos ko na lang. Maybe one day everything will be okay,” he said.
When BB returned from the US last month, Robin, in an interview, had said, “Shocked ako, eh. Lalo na ako.”
Although the latter never really revealed anything about what surprised him, rumors that BB underwent a sex change operation were rampant.
However, BB is very happy that his mom Eva Carino and niece Kylie Padilla have fully accepted his new persona. Apparently, the two would even come to him for fashion tips.
As BB works hard to reconnect with some family members, he notes that, as of now, he isn’t really privy yet to many of their concerns. So when he was asked about Kylie’s love life, BB said, “Alam mo hindi pa namin napag-uusapan ‘yan. Hindi pa niya sa akin nao-open, actually. But, of course, I know [of it].”
Asked about developments in his personal life, BB simply shared, “Siguro darating ‘yon.”
He also added, “Of course, I meet people, especially in the US. May mga pagkakataon na lumalabas ka rin pero wala pang seryoso.”
